The HLCCL stands for 'Half-life Clan Collision League.

The HLCCL has been fully active since January 1999. The significant iterations or seasons have been reflected in the number succeeding the initials.

HLCCL1 was obviously the first and was a huge league numbering approximately 25 clans. This was the first major HL league to be hosted by a Games Service Provider, Wireplay. HLCCL1 was won by a clan named 'KAA' and the runners up were 'ED'. The league was run by a number of people most significantly Digriz.

HLCCL2 started in the summer of 1999 and consisted of two large divisions. There were a large number of continental clans now taking part in the league. Two divisions allowed the then huge number of approximately 40 clans play competitive clan matches.
HLCCL2 established the Wireplay run league as the biggest of its kind in Europe. The league was becoming more professional with a decent website and some good organisation of dedicated Server Administrators. This league was run for the main part by Guru and then taken over by the head admin Tarby. The winners of division 1 was 'HKI' followed by 'BH'. Division 2 was won by 'AA' and followed by 'ALS'.

HLCCL3 was started at the end of 1999. This was the time that saw many changes and improvements to the league and it's structure.
HLCCL3 saw the best clans in Europe competing in the traditional divisional structure. The winners of division 1 was 'KR' and the runners up were 'PMERS'. Division 2 winners were 'KK' and the runners up were 'SOL'. The organisers of this league were Tarby and Ostrich.

HLCCL4 saw the new format of the ladder system come into effect. The HLCCL4 started in the spring of 2000. The league now boasted 7 ladders of 8 clans. That's 56 clans from all over Europe playing on eight dedicated servers every sunday night. The completion of each clan playing every other clan it it's ladder was commonly described as a phase. The HLCCL4 enjoyed 3 phases throughout 2000.

HLCCL5 to the present shows that the format of HLCCL4 was a good and trusted way of allowing clans to join the league half way through a phase and to allow clans to filter up and down through the ladders. The current league has the best in Europe competing in ladder 1. The HLCCL has also enjoyed providing 2 cup competitions along side the league activity. HLCCL5 was a significant change as we said good bye to our friends at Wireplay as they were closed down by their owners. The HLCCL was far from dead and we were taken on by Barrysworld where we have been happy ever since!

The HLCCL has provided competition and fun to over 200 clans and over 800 players. The league has had it's ups and downs but through advances in technology avaliable and a strong will by its volunteers the HLCCL has become a brand name and its popular throughout Europe and famed for its community.

HLCCL as a league is now dormat but remains very active as a community of former players of Half Life and current players of many other games and activities, HLCCL shall remain alive and active until the last member stops visiting the site and forums, please kindly turn off the lights if you find yourself being this last member :-)
