do either of these commands affect how smooth the game is?
i heard someone mention that the lower cl_updaterate is, the choppier the game gets as far as connection wise?
is there any truth to this?

also, sometimes when i have relatively good ping, say about 110-120 or so, people say i'm REALLY choppy. i'm using the net settings off the KIA site. is this because my net settings are really low?
by low i mean: (a copy of the KIA settings)

// -Net Settings-
rate "7000"
cl_lc "1"
cl_lw "1"
cl_lb "1"
cl_updaterate "40"
cl_timeout "500"
cl_cmdbackup "2"
cl_cmdrate "40"
cl_latency "0"
ex_interp ".05"
cl_nopred "0"
cl_nosmooth "1"
cl_resend "1"
cl_cmdbackup "0"
cl_vsmoothing "0.05"
ex_maxerrordistance "128"
cl_rate "3500"
cl_latency "-16"

anything that should be changed for improved registering of hits or smoothness? any help is appreciated.

what connection are you on??

updaterate = the speed that data is got from the svr to your computer

cmdrate = the speed that data is sent to the svr from your computer

im on ADSL and mine are:

cl_updaterate 35
cl_cmdrate 100 (i used to have it at 64)

obviously if ur on ISDN or saiing you'll have to decrease the cmdrate a bit.. put net_graph 3 on and look at ur choke/loss.. keep changing the values til ur loss/choke disappears

btw ag6 limits the ex_maxerrordistance to 64 so no point having it at 128 :)
