Check this setting in config.cfg - fps_max "99.0"
It might be set to a lower figure...

Might have to update the motherboard drivers.
Or the graphics card drivers.

fps_max is 100
and I got the newest drivers for grafic card and mobo.
My bro and a friend have the same mobo but diff grafic cards, they dont have this prob.

Ahhhhh i know what this is i think m8ty
I formatted last week and stuck win2k on after having 98SE on before for half life ... saw my frames go down from a constant 99 to a pathetic 15 to 50 depending on action. ;(
Thought originally it was the ATI patch but that didnt seem to do it (think that may have been the patch before it was releavnt for .. cant remember :-/)so i scoured the net and found somewhere about a config variable that was needed for 2k / XP
ati_npatch 0
Typed teh above in my console and it immedaitely went back to lush 99 fps :)
Check the techy forum m8. Superflys posted some settings to sort your FPS :)

Aint this the techy forum
I reckon it will be that one I put above though, couldnt believe one setting would change it so much..... was getting ready to stick 98SE back on before I found it.
hmm, sure this was in main forum earlier :|

via 4in1 drivers? erm I had a lot ov trouble getting my fps up from 20,
There are a few xp specific drivers (nvidea) and an xp fps fix also...
Direct X you dont have to touch cos it's 8.1 in xp...
That radeon nvidea?

No, its ATI chipset.
I also tried different drivers (Plutonium, Omega) and tried to tweak it with Radeon Tweaker...
but nothin changed.

its a bit strange but I have to deactivate my firewall (Norton Personal Firewall 2002) and I get 100 FPS (most time)...
so if I activate it I get about >= 50 FPS
strange, isnt it ?
try installing this m8 if you are still having probs
it might not work with youre graphics card tho i think its geforce only
