Just installed a server and...

Tis strange

The server can ping the client on 192.168.0.3
The server can see the internet

The client CANT ping the server
The client can see the internet

Both can ping the router

When I try and view machines in the workgroup I get an error about

"Workgoup is not accessible: You might not have permissions"

Anyone help as this is meh server and im lost

I know that all the network settings are bob on an dif i goto 2k to XP then its fine but XP to .Net server is a no no :-(

right.. the reason you cant ping it is coz it doesnt exist on the internet :P

your router is blocking the port.. you need to go into your routers nat setup and set it to forward the port 27015 (if this is the port ur svrs on) to the ip of the pute you have the svr on (192.168.0.3)

you cant see your external ip address internally, for example the outside world will see ur server by its external ip, whereas ur other machines locally can only see it via its local address..

all machines are hooked up with an internal IP address on a local network

No matter I blatted the installation and re installed .net server..

Almost working now and a full net server
(cheap hosting coming soon lol)

I think that it was the win2k server that caused the issue that i updated over teh top of..
