MSI Mobo on board sound

My dads PC has an MSI KT3Ultra2 but can't get the onboard sound working properly

its an AC97 onboard sound chipset (afaik) and when running in 2 speaker mode nothing comes out. Run it in 4 speaker mode and the front channels output is directed to the rear speakers :|

Anyone got any clever ideas?

install the cds that come with the mobo? or download the drivers from the MSI page :)

Yes indeed you need the utilities on the CD or from the MSI site. Is the board new? If so make sure the brackets on the back are positioned correctly and use the MSI sound utility (control panel once youve loaded it)
