Hello,

basically my drives (ROM & re-writer) are John Shafted ;/ I don't really know how or why but to be honest I've gone CDless for almost a month & a half and it's getting tiresome :)

I think it may have happened when I installed new ViA4in1 drivers a while back...

It's a KT7-A motherboard, Athlon Thunderbird CPU, Windows2K, SBLive, GeForce2GTS, etc

I've never really had any problems with either of them under this setup before.

I do have my HDD partitioned into C: and D:, and looking at setups for CD drives & the like I noticed the config.sys will try & make the default CD to D:... ;/

Cheers. :)

PS: for the format c: crew - format c:

Now I don't suppose anyone can fix the problem I had before they gave up totally, which has returned - they won't play Audio CDs and have trouble reading some data CDs?

:D?

Go to device manager and unistall both drives then go to the action menu and scan for hardware changes.

You may want to try with DMA on/off too.

Stick SP1 on if you havent already.

I'm assuming you've got XP :)

they won't play Audio CDs

dunno if you got this sorted or not... but make sure the cable runs from your cd drive to your sound card... 4 pin cable, if I remem correctly.
