loss/choke help

does anyone know how i can lower my choke....i am running 56k and i know that it may be impossible but my net settings are

rate "5000"
cl_rate "2500"
cl_updaterate "30"
cl_cmdrate "30"

what should cmd rate be and stuff, also does anyone know what these cmds do, or what they should be set at for 56k??

cl_resend "1"
cl_cmdbackup "2"
cl_nosmooth "0"
cl_nopred "0"

what are somethings that i can do to get minimal loss and are there any sites out there for help, i have a good 56k modem its a hardware diamond modem...v.90 internal isa...someone plz help me out would really appreciate it :)

Try lowering your update rate in game, net_graph should tell you if it's working, it did for me.

i use to use

rate 4000
cl_cmdrate 25
cl_updaterate 15

or less was good enough back then lol
