How can I get 100FPS please?

HI Guys,

OK I have an XFX GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128Mb DDR 8x, however it is only running at 4x due to the capabilities of my motherboard.

I have tried all sorts of configs, and settings but I can't get 100FPS! Im just getting 60FPS.

Some time ago I tried a program that altered the Hz your monitor runs at, when using different resolutions, that actually worked, but unfortunately not too long after that it seriously screwed my monitor.

So has anyone got any suggestions?

if so try a proggy called refreshlock

right first off make sure you have the correct monitor drivers installed... this makes all the difference as it tells you gfx card exactly what resolutions and what hz your monitor can do.... it may just be your monitor cant do 100hz

once youve got them installed get a programme from www.guru3d.com called rivatuner... its a geforce tweaking utility and also has a refresh changer built in for xp.... once installed tell rivatuner to set your monitotr hz to the max it can go for each resolution [ this is why its important to have monitor drivers installed as it gets the figures from hte monitor.inf file... incorrect readings could harm your monitor....]

now also check that v-sync is on under opengl utilities within the rivatuner programme this syncs your fps with the monitor hz and stops tearing ingames, also check you have fps_max set to 100 in your hl config....

as i say it more down to your monitor spec whether youll get 100 fps, let me explain

resolution 1024x768 monitor does 100hz = hl will show 100fps

but

resolution 1024x768 monitor only does 85hz then hl will show as maximum of 85fps

hope this helps a bit.. its hard to explain with so many variables in the equation but you should get it..

For what its worth... I max out at 75, and thats with a killer system.
Some strange config conflict between WinME and my monitor preventing my gfx card from pushing out 100hz.

Not been able to solve it, so just settled on 75fps solid now :/

incidently my fps stays at 99fps regardless of whats on screen :tongue:
