**56k Modem Help**

got a Diamond SupraSonic II shotgun modem but i use only one, isa modem, 2k on the server machine ( use that because i dont have a isa slot and the old isa modems are better than others ) running xp on the gaming machine i been playing gettting really good and constant ping with that modem and now all of a sudden it turn to shit it is unplayable now, is there any tweaks out there that u guys can share with me or anything at all will help and dont say 'get dsl' ffs because i cannot get it.....thx for the help

my ISP told me that its because of all the rain and its causing noise in the line, dunno if thats true or not also told me to reduce the thing from 115,000 to 57,000...any ideas?
