Take cables out
Unscrew HD
Remove HD
Put New HD In
Screw New HD (;))
Plug in cables.
Not hard really.
Might wanna check the jumpers are correct. Probably wont matter though

Yeah, things you wear when its cold.
Or little plastic things that go over the pins at the back of the hd to select what drive it is. If you only have one HD it shouldnt be a problem.

basically on the back of the hdd it shud have a set of pins, and a two pin covering jumper (piece of plastic). You prob wanna set that to single or master. Put your xp cd let it load up install wallaaa :)

Yeah the jumpers determine which messages the drives should ignore from the bus and which it should respond to, the master and slave are just addresses you see. Don't put the HDD on the same IDE channel as your CDROM of course or the transmission rate will negotiate to the rate at which both devices compatible with (i.e the slower).
Also I have heard before that reversing the IDE cables can cause the drives to function incorrectly because of timing issues so make sure you put it the right way round.
So just to reiterate single makes the drive listen out to all messages, master makes the drive only listen out for messages addressed to master and so on...
