Hi ya
I just updated my system to this...
AMD AthlonXP 2000+
512MB DDR Ram PC2100
LeadTek A250 GeForce4 Ti4600 Ultra TD
Soundblaster Audigy Platinum
2 x 80GB Maxtor 7200RPM ATA133 HDs
Pioneer 16x DVD
TDK 24/10/40 CD Writer
Hollywood+ DVD Decoder
ASUS 128K ISDN
3Com 10/100 LAN card
Windows 2000 Pro SP2 + all fixes
AMD AGP MiniPort Drivers
VIA 4in1's
Latest Detonator Drivers
I done a clean install with all the latest drivers.
3DMark2001SE gives me a score of 9727.
Other people with a similar spec got 12,000!!
Any ideas?
James
make sure v -sync is off while running 3d mark. but i guess ya prolly done that.
Dunno if that poss 9000 + is poss with v-sync on but i imagine high frames within the natural tests might bump the score up a bit.
And 1 more thing makes sure that aa is off as well

Depends m8.. what Motherboard ya got? 3dmark is very memorey bandwith hungry. People getting 12000+ marks have highly overclocked systems. Running Stupid FSB speeds. It all counts m8. have you overclocked the card?

I have an Epox 8K7A+ motherboard.
NOTHING is overclocked as I don't really believe in it :)

I wouldnt be upset with those marks.. Remembering that the higher results would have been with overclocked systems with no other applications installed, no uneccersary drivers installed and running.
thus freeing up resources. To my knowledge any more than 256mb would slow things down slightly.
Increasing FSB would change things dramatically. got my 1.4amd on that mobo to 5160 marks and 1624mhz, not amazing now. It secured me 21st place when i did it thou :)
only got a geforce2ultra

Wildways, there is also a newish BIOS for that board which may help XP. its Here (http://www.epox.nl/english/support/bios/socketa.htm) to play with, but i havent yet cos i only have a 1.4 :) so i cant vouch personally for any possible gain.

Wildwayz if your board supports it which i think it will with a bios flash. Sell your 512mb 2100 ddr ram and get some new pc2700 / 333mhz ram from ebuyer for 65 quid (for 256mb)i think it is, samsung make it and youll get at least another 1000 points.
Your ram running at 133 is a huge bottle neck.
It will perform better with 256mb of that than 512mb of the slower stuff.
Hope that helps.
Still nice score tho.

Hi ya
Anyway to find out if my mobo DOES support that ram? I have the latest bios installed too (but the epox site doesn't have a changelog of the bioses).
