Lately, the question has been floating around the message board. I have put together a instructional tutorial, on how create your own personal console background.
Preperation:
1) Make a folder on your C drive called console and within that folder one called samples, this is very important. Next extract these (http://www.custom-tfc.co.uk/tutorials/files/consoletools.zip) files to your console Dir.
so in c:/console
you should have the following files
qlumpy.exe
cached.ls
makels.exe
makewad.bat
2) Next, use a image editing program that you are familiar with (I prefer Adobe Photoshop 7.0). Select an image size with the dimensions of 640x480, and create the image you wish to use as your console background.
3) Once you are satisfied with the overall appearance of your image, you need to convert the colours into 256 (8 bit), and as .bmp.
4) Next you need to save the image as loading.bmp and conback.bmp These images need to be saved to c:/console/samples. Check that you have 2 .bmps in that folder.
5) Finally, go back to your console folder and double click the makewad.bat and hopefull it will create a file called cached.wad.
Put that file in your mod directory and your done.
