Oke, ive been doing digital moddeling and animating for a year and a half, and i wanted to make a few skins etc for half life and wondered what information and programs i needed to export or bridge any meshes i make into half life. Here are a few questions to outline my queries:

1. ive seen programs like milkshake for game editing, I use Maya, is there any way of getting a free bridge program or an exporter for Maya into half life format.

2. What kind of texture resolutions do half life skins support, and again what formats do i need, are they imbedded into the .mdl file or somthing? Can i have multiple textures for one skin etc?

3.I was thinking for starting a few meshes for hl2 now, any idea on poly counts avalable? For animating mesh's in HL2 do any of you guys know wether you still have to do a skeletal based facial animation system, or can blend shapes/morph targets be used?

Any sites that can point me in the right direction?

Yeh i was guessing somthing along the lines of a system where you can basically controll as certain movement with a slider bar rather than a mess of bone attributes...bluddy well hope so anyway
