have you installed the correct drivers for your monitor?
Use refreshforce to manually set the hz to 75 for whatever rez you play hl1 in.
Sounds like you also have vsync on for opengl (hl1) and not direct3d (hl2). Change the vsync setting under the 3d tab in ati control panel.

You have a choice, play at 60fps, or turn off vsync.

You are correct, I am now getting 100fps again and def 99% no diff with V-sync off, TFT's must handle V-sync diff cos with CRT it was plain ugly with V-sync off
Rage of course I put on latest drivers and Rav of course I use a refreshlock proggie :P :P
BTW Rav need a word with ya sometime you may feel like dropping into #[RFC]

Its because of the way TFTs are rendered by individual pixels changing colour rather than the entire screen scanning. refresh rate really means nothing to a tft.

Don't like to rain on your parade Janer, but I just thought I'd mention I've got Samsung 19" TFT. Rather good. Feel free to punch me if you like ;)
