Ok I have finally realised the reason for my crappy d/l speed in the last 4 weeks was due to me installing a new windows xp disc with sp2.
Now I did the port thing b4 but cannot seem to do it this time, so I will have to wait til [RFC] Jay hits dublin again, but I want to know that if I knock off my Zone alarm Firewall (xp already disabled) will that make any diff if I don't fix the proper port connections the way they need to be to increase my d/l speed

With firewall on can only seem to get about 6, being off a while now and got as high as 22 (of course I know alot depends on throttling etc)

Using Bittornado now and the light is still yellow which kinda defeats the purpose of my original question I guess

I read this
http://punktorrents.com/index.php?showtopic=36105
But still having problems getting to my ports
I just forget since I did it about 4-5 months ago

any help would be welcomed :)

is your pc connected directly to the internet? (i.e no router etc.) If it is, in zone alarm, go to firewall>programs and add your bit torrent client to the list. No need to run windows firewall as well, turn it off. Would be a very bad idea to tun them both off though.

better in your threads than most in the main forum atm m8
not a good idea to run without any firewall.
Does your router have an option called dmz? Run than to the pc with your bit torrent client and run zone alarm on that computer. What that will do is pass all internet traffic directly to your pc and then zone alram will handle the firewall for that pc only, and should configure itself for bit torrent automatically.
