What kinda 3dmark should I expect with an Athlon 1.4gig, 512mb PC133 ram and a Geforce4 Ti4600?
Running windows XP btw.

Also, is there any way to install 98/ME and still be able to boot into XP?

i get 9600 with my asus 4600 ultra deluxe with everything running in the background like anti virus, irc etc :)

seems fine to me seeing as i got 4600 with my old gf3

Install xp first.
W98 wont create a boot.ini durin setup, where xp does. So if ya setup xp after a 98 installation ya wont find a 98 entry in boot menu. When w98 setup finds a boot.ini allready residing on system partition it will add a Windows 98 entry. then y acan choose between the 2.

Forgot..... if ya allready got xp installed. Search for the file boot.ini and add an entry yaself. Easy.

Errr, normally when you install 98 after installing XP it takes away the boot option as Win98 thinks its special.
Well, thats what it normally does to me :cry:

Hmmm must be mixin some things hehe. Either way... After installed 98 ya can still find a boot.ini on system partition. Alter it and ya fine :)

you should alwayz install the latest os last.

though you 'should' be able to copy the boot.ini file somwhere.. then install 98 on another partition and restore the ini file and add the 98 option.

jus throwin ideas about here :)

boot.ini files are evil to edit though, mine always dies when i try :'(

Similar spec as yours

Athlon 1.4 @ 1.52 (145x10.5) with 256MB PC133 and Leadtek GF4 Ti4600

I get 9000 without any tweaking at all, and with all stuff loaded normally on boot-up.

P.S. It dont half run a bit hot now tho :eek: compared to me GF2 Pro

lol, I think Win98/ME gets better scores than XP :(
Oh well, I'll be upgrading soon so a nice fresh install.
Parents can be stuck with shoddy gf2mx :D

Have you run 3Dmark 2001 SE then ?

Also, have you noticed increased temperatures ? Min ehas gone up 5ºC since I installed this card (excluding the recent hot weather) ?

Nope.
My temps are the same
I think havent really checked that much.
I only get just over 8000 3dmarks on 3dmark 2001SE :cry:
People with exact same system get 9000-10000+

my specs are



mobo : MSI ARU DELUXE
proc : xp 2GHz (1.6 non clocked @ 12.5/166)
ram : crucial 256mb pc2700 @ 333mhz
hdd : 2x15.3 GB Maxtor @ udma 66
GF : GeForce 2 original GTS 64mb @ ram-365mhz | proc @ 220mhz

Default 2000 mark : 9419
Default 2001se mark : 4499



At the moment my GF2 does enuff for most directx 7 and not too highly advanced dx8 stuff

constant 100 fps (capped com_maxfps 100) quake3 full everything 1024x768 | 32bbp

3D Mark 2001 is mainly aimed at GF4s as they run DX8 effects better
