Speeding up FireFox

Been using firefox recently, and found a site with a few tips on getting pages to load faster.. Works great, so for those who use firefox, have a go at the following




Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now.


30 sounds like it might be a tad overkill, but you can always tweak it later :)

I'd just stop using the internet.

I'm gonna convert my family to it sometime...wait til something goes wrong, then say it was ie's fault, then install firefox and say that won't have the same problem, works just like ie too...

See, you dont need to convince them firefox is better, you just need to fool them into thinking ie did something wrong ;)

Another tip:

Enter about:config in the address url
In filter type "network.dns.disableipv6"

If you have this entry, check it's set to true.

If you don't have this entry, right click, file/new boolean
Enter the name "network.dns.disableipv6" and value as true.

That will stop firefox trying to do ipv6 lookups. Obviously if you're on an ipv6 network, don't do the above.

ROFL!!! zomg i only got dsl 2000 but it really works 2-3 times faster.. like beeing in some kinda cage but it isnt! :D

but the only prob is:

i dont have the line: network.http.proxy.pipelining

i did: new --> boolean and added this line manually and set it to "true"

you fink this makes any sense?

Doesn't seem to make a huge difference to connection but that's obvious. Plus I'm on a 100mb line anyway. But FACKEM it speeds the shit out of the page loading!
