9800 pro fps problems

hi guys i resently got a new gf card..
sapphire 9800 pro atlantis

i changed it with my old leet gf3 ti gold sampel.

so here it goes:P
ive installed the drivers first i get a error msg saying zero display error..
right now im kinda pissed off=)

im getting fps that is realy unstabile in regular hl!!!
around 60-100, im used to 100 fps with my old 1...
i tried a program named driver cleaner to remove my old nvidia drivers completly..
ive been installing the card a dousin times.. still i dont get any good of it..
felt like trowing 2 k out the window.....

i seriously dont want to format.. got to much importants stuff on my computer..


so guys/girls..=)

if any1 got an idea, dont be affraid to tell me

i hade kinda same problem
ya need to install rage 3d and there tweak it to your prefference

you might not want to format, nut that will fix it.
You say you don't want to lose stuff, I suggest you partition your drive and use seperate partitions for windows and your data. That way you can do what you want to the windows drive and the data remains intact.
Also a good idea when installing to make an image with something like norton ghost at various stages. I have one with everything but the graphics drivers so that I don't get promlems like this.
