View Full Version : How can I limit my A3D

I want to set my A3D to a reasonable distance, so what would that be. I'm playing CStrike a lot, and I can hear footsteps all over the map and it's a shite.

I just wanna hear around me.

What settings I need to change?

thx :)

I use eax for CS m8 , it works much better for some reason, and the distance is better, but

in my a3d config I have this line

s_max_distance 1000, which is limited by BW servers to 1000 I have noticed.

Try reducing it I guess see what happens.

Also I have a true a3d card and in CS my mic dosent work although it works in the set up and also I can't hear other speak, I just get a nasty high pitched buzz, But If i set the card to eax it work's fine, anyone know why ??

thought it was s_distance distances that changes hearing range and not s_max_distance.

SO try s_distance "40 or 50"

and another thing do you know what the max hearing range on eax is ?

I've used a3d with s_distance 40 which seemed long way and i've tried s_distance 40 on eax which ain't nearly the same. so i rekon it's prolly around 30 maybe less.

Thank you

I have just realised it is happening with people using mikes on valve as well :(
