my comp sits here idle sometimes but my cpu usage is all over the place. It goes from 2% to the highest 100%.Maybe its nothing to worry about,it just seems strange though and I am guessing this screws with my games too.I do what i can to check for viruses(AVG,norton,NOD32,spybot etc)and scan on a weekly basis,so hopefully its not a virus.
Is this normal or am i being a paranoid loon.

Depends...
If you look at the processes list in task manager, what does it say is using the CPU when it is busy?

'System idle process' says it is taking up 99 CPU and 16k mem usage. The CPU box in the bottom is only reading 0-35%.Everything else is reading 0%.
I looked into a bit,and the answers i got ranged from everything to remastering my P.C cause its a virus to defragging my hard-drive.I de-fragged but it has made sod all difference.
Any suggestions....plz?

Really,i have never noticed it before. When i googled 'system idle process' the first time a very dodgy/unprofessional google page which said it had a problem finding it popped up,the 2nd time was o.k.The google message looked like it was made by a 2yr old tho.
Maybe its a case of internet parranoia.:)

yup it was stll there, and still using lots of my CPU,which im guessing is a good thing??
I scanned with,spybot,nod32,ad-aware and all said it was clear.
I noticed a strange message in nod32 tho, which said'[4]file cannot be opened. It is being exclusively used by another application or operating system'.The [4] is a folder called system32,these are some of the things nod32 couldnt open:
C:\Documents and Settings\Neil\NTUSER.DAT - error opening (file locked)
C:\Documents and Settings\Neil\ntuser.dat.LOG - error opening (file locked) [4]
C:\Documents and Settings\Neil\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat - error opening (file locked) [4]

delete the file in safemode would be the only way

bollox man i really aint having much luck here. Each trojan scanner gives a differnt name for the same trojan(i hope)so far it has been called:Win32.Ciadoor.D,W32.Netsky and trojan.admincash.Also when i run msconfig theres writing that looks japanese/chinese,followed by
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current version\Windows:Run and then another underneath which is the same apart from:Load at the end, what the hell is happening plz any1 help me im desperate, and i really dont wanna have to re-master,any help plz.

boot in safemode, locate the infrected files, delete :]
reboot back into safe mode, virus scan
reboot into windows mode and do another scan, check for a virus, use some spywear aka Spybot Adaware Pro
clear all cookies/history
click start Run/ Msconfig, go start up, remove any unwanted start ups from start up, check control panal and Add remove aap etc remove any unwated stuff installed
reboot :) then check ur task manager if things havent changed then nothing to worry about, but only thing i could say would be Format :c /q :P and install a fresh windows

huh this is getting silly now.I went into 'run' to start msconfig,it always reads 'msconfig' when i go there, but this time it basically read 'synamtec norton system works'which i didnt type and no-one else uses this comp,so who knows. So i run live update because they have a fix for Win32ciador,and lo and behold live update gets an error, and cannot download the new virus definitions:coinsidence:I think not. When i google the virus ciador.D the sites at the top of the search list are all in japanese, which is what the virus is written in,and we all know how well google translates this to english. So that was usless too.
the b'stards who made this virus probabley even know what i am typing now, cause i think it has a key-logger,so if you are ' hello and please get the fu*k outta my comp'. :P
