How did you go about getting it sorted?

I'm interested in keeping a blog of my new training regime but am not really sure on how to start, yours looks great and gets to the point. Any tips/ideas on how to get one going?

cheers

Cheers m8ty, was fairly easy to get it going although I did have some help from a few kind peeps here (glotty, nikolas, zaxxon and snake mainly) on some of the fiddly stuff on the static page I got stuck with due to my lack of html/css knowledge and also on the main header image which again snake did for me which is great imo.

Theres 2 main ways to go if you want to creat a blog.

1. Blog hosted by a blog host - eg www.blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com) (googles version which is very popular but theres many others out there) which is very simple to setup and get going with as all you have to do is sign up to it and then you can start blogging.

2. Blog hosted on your own web hosting using some blogging software - eg www.wordpress.org (http://www.wordpress.org) which you upload to your hosting and configure (what I use for mine as its free and supposedly one of the best although theres lots out there) bit more complicated to get going with as you will have to sort a domain name, hosting, database and configuration of the blogger software but it does allow you more control.

(theres also kinda theird option from I have just read where someone hosts your blog on their own wordpress hosting so you dont have to do the setup etc yourself but I dont know how much true control that would give you http://weblogs.us/ )

I went with option 2 cos I wanted more control, already had some hosting, a domain name I wanted to use and after reading the wordpress installation instructions realised it was fairly easy to setup with just a little knowledge of how these things worked on a web host.

So www.nickruns.org (http://www.nickruns.org) is made mainly from wordpress but with a static front page and also I have a link in there to coppermine picture hosting that I also have installed on my own hosting.

I would suggest maybe signing up with www.blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com) initially and seeing what that gives yah and you should be able to tell more or less straight away whether thats gonna give you what you want or whether you will hve to spend a bit more time setting your own up.

Few more threads from when I was first discussing mine that will help show how it developed.

Any specifics that I can help with just ask away m8ty.
