Today I have purchased a new mountain bike and from tomorrow morning am gonna start a strict fitness regime and I hope to fit back into my holiday clothes by end of April.
I have gained a bit of a belly after packing in the fags and beer :/.
yeah I thought it was a beer belly too, but apparently not.
I plan on doing about a mile around wollaton park lake for a couple of days and build up gradually.

My Niece (Rhyno's Sister) died of heart failure last month (22 yrs old) and we are holding a sponsored bike ride in july (about 30 miles), so it would also be great to be able to participate in that.
Any diet tips much appreciated
Thanks.

Really sorry to hear about your Niece m8ty, thats just no age at all is it, just not fair when people die so young
Nice job on the ciggies so far m8ty !
Excess calories belly will be what it is m8ty .. whether from beer or ciggie substitutes :)
Sounds like your gonna take it nice and steady to start with anyay m8ty which is always good idea cos your body will need time to adjust to the new regime but I am sure yah will come out the other side of it feeling much better.
Best way imo to sort the old diet out is to spend a bit of time, maybe a day or two or maybe even a full week if you eat different things each day, making note of what it is that your actually eating/drinking (everything !) and just by writing it down will give you some simple ideas of where you can start to change things for the better.
* If your snacking on junk food then change this for fruit.
* Make sure your eating a variety of at least 5 portions a day of fruit and veg so you get the vital vitamins and minerals, great for fibre and anti oxidents (help clean the body) and also a great source of water (most fruit and veg are made from approx 80% water)
* Try and drink at least 2 litres of water (more if your excercising hard) to make sure your properly hydrated as your body works better when your hydrated.
* Try and take an interest in what your actually eating, read labels to see what stuff has in them, eat as much unprocessed food as possible.

I do try and eat healthy whenever possible, but being out on the road all day can sometimes mean fast food.
I try and get a sandwhich but sometimes have no option but chips/mc'ds etc. probabaly once a month if that tbh.
At home though everything is low fat and we eat loads of veg.
the only problem will be the water though,I loves me cuppa tea and hardly ever just drink water, so maybe a flavoured water ???

He he good stuff m8ty .. seats are much better than they were 10 years ago m8ty, the v cutout seats are really comfy ...... its stilla shock when u first get on a mountain bike after not riding for a while though aint it ... partly cos the frames so stiff but also cos your not used to it ....... month or so of a few rides a week and yah bum will have toughened up to it :)
