Aye thats the Biz for the bike m8ty, does everything mine does but with a bigger screen. The hook up with Motionbased is great adds a new dimension to fitness training as well, tis great.

Really pleased with how well my 101 is going on ebay, already at £57 with 2 days left and 6 people watching it. Even if it sells at that price I wont care cos I only paid £85 for it and have had a years worth of use out of it !

It arrived today, going to go for a litte ride just so i can have a mess about with it :)

Whats a good heart rate under full load as it were? just a rough idea so i can make some adjustments.

:)

PS: its the same size as my D500 btw :E

That could get confusing from time to time :D

Max Heart Rate standard calculation (most widely used at least cos theres lots of ways of doig it) is 220bpm - your age

so for me my max heart rate should be 220 -36 so MHR = 184

So now that you know your MHR you can calculate your different training zones from that figure and then exercise according to your different zones for whatever aspect of your fitness you wish to work on.

One thing that you should notice as your aerobic fitness improves is that your resting heart rate will be lower and certainly thats something that I have found with mine.

Zone info psted below.

The Energy Efficient or Recovery Zone - 60% to 70%

Training within this zone develops basic endurance and aerobic capacity. All easy recovery running should be completed at a maximum of 70%. Another advantage to running in this zone is that while you are happily fat burning you may lose weight and you will be allowing your muscles to re-energise with glycogen, which has been expended during those faster paced work-outs. Check out the Fat burning zone (http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/fatburn.htm) page.
The Aerobic Zone - 70% to 80%

Training in this zone will develop your cardiovascular system. The body's ability to transport oxygen to, and carbon dioxide away from, the working muscles can be developed and improved. As you become fitter and stronger from training in this zone it will be possible to run some of your long weekend runs at up to 75%, so getting the benefits of some fat burning and improved aerobic capacity.
The Anaerobic Zone - 80% to 90%

Training in this zone will develop your lactic acid system. In this zone your individual anaerobic threshold (http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/enduranc.htm#ant) is found - sometimes referred to the point of deflection (POD). During these heart rates the amount of fat being utilised as the main source of energy is greatly reduced and glycogen stored in the muscle is predominantly used. One of the by-products of burning this glycogen, is the runners worst enemy, lactic acid (http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/lactic.htm). There is a point at which the body can no longer remove the lactic acid from the working muscles quickly enough. This happens at an individual heart rate for us all and is accompanied by a rapid rise in heart rate and a slowing of your running pace. This is your anaerobic threshold or POD. Through the correct training it is possible to delay the POD by being able to increase your ability to deal with the lactic acid for a longer period of time or by pushing the POD higher.
The Red Line Zone 90% to 100%

Training in this zone will only be possible for short periods of time. It effectively trains your fast twitch muscle fibres (http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/muscle.htm) and helps to develop speed. This zone is reserved for interval running (http://www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/conintrn.htm) and only the very fit are able to train effectively within this zone.

Btw, I sold my 101 for £70, not bad to say that I only bought it for £85 over a year ago .. nice to see they hold their resale value.

My 305 lasted all of a couple of weeks, wore it on the London marathon and it stopped working half way round and then switched back on right at the end and I could see water inside the face of it .... thankfully www.Wiggle.co.uk (http://www.Wiggle.co.uk) replaced it straigt away so I have a new one already and hopefully this one will last longer than the last one.

Looking good m8ty, tis a great training tool aint it, now that my legs have just about recovred from the marathon and now I have my replacemnt 305 I will be out this weekend training for the next thing.

I was gonna sing the praises of www.motionbased.com (http://www.motionbased.com) as I have subscribed to them for keeping a training log and stuff as it goes a bit further than Training Center ... but having just tried to log into their site I wont be bothering doing that cos its slower than slow and has a message up saying sorry we are experiencing very high volumes of traffic ... not what yah wanna see when you pay for a service tbh so unless that improves (it has been slow the previous few times I have use it) I wont be carrying on with that service.

This one below is the only bike ride I have in my TC due to inury and then the marathon ... spot the places where I stopped to pump up my flat tire

Deffo looking for new mountain bike tyres this weekend, had a stupid amount of punctures since I got this new bike .. at least 1 for every ride but then usually pulling 2 or 3 things out of the tyre when I come to replace it ... the rubber just seems way too soft !

Comparing the averages there, there's not a lot in it tbh, ofcourse you did twice what i did but looking at it.. i'm quite pleased with myself :) looks like my heart is fine. It was quite an eye wobbler in places! :E

I shall give it another run in the morning, try a different route i think.

Aye theres not that much in it on the face of it cept for my average speed being a bit higher ...... but dont get too carried away yet m8ty cos theres possibly a bit more to it than that ..... not wanting to knock yah btw, just wanna give yah somert meaningful to aim for :)

What sort of track/road was that ride of yours on ?

That ride of mine above was for the most part along a very muddy canal path/bank after a torrential downpour right at the start of the ride then 4 or 5 stops on the way back along the road to put air into my tyre after a can of sealent didnt seem to do much of anything to fix it ..... last mile or so I couldnt bothered to stop and add more air so I just took it very steady on a semi flat tyre making sure I didnt rim it.

I will try and get out this weekend to set you a target m8ty :)

Having said all that .... ive just remembered your quite a bit older than me !....cheator !

:)

Will be nice to have someone else to compare to.

Admittedly mine was all roadway :D there was 2.5 miles of downhill which is where i got my max speed of 37.5 miles an hour without pedalling. ;)

but the rest was a steady incline back home again. I think i have got a long way to go before i get up to your level of fitness! :E

The only canal path near me is the leeds/liverpool canal. not sure where i can pick it up in leeds, i could always drive to bingley and get on at the five rise locks there.

I have another road run in the morning which i think is about 15 miles if i've worked it out properly, i still haven't bought a water bottle yet :|

hmm.. tempted to drive to bingley on monday. :)

Good idea batman I shall do that now.

I know my fitness is miles better now than it used to be but after 2 years of working on it it should be ! Having said that I know its still improving and I know that theres still room for improvemnt. With running they (most of the stuff I have read) reckon that it takes 7-10 years to get to your optimum level !
