My quads are just about back to normal after the marathon last weekend but my knees are still quite sore (they actually werent sore straight after but got really sore a few days after strangely) so no running for this week but that gives me chance to get out on the bike for a bit.

Still not got any new tyres so stuck to the road to avoid punctures and actually managed a ride without any punctures for once !

Nice night for a ride, cept for all the flies, not to self ... get some clear shades for the next trip out !

Not too bad for traffic tonight so just a couple of stops for traffic lights on the way round.

You should stick to "off roading" then my average speed doesn't look as bad! :E

Didn't get out at all at the weekend, was just too busy! :( I might get a chance to go out tonight if i can get my admin done a bit sooner. Failing that its gonna be friday.

As well as Training Center I use Motionbased which does much more analysis and has lots of bells and whistles that TC doesnt have and even does really clever things like linking directly into google earth so you can do a virtual fly by of the route you have taken ... which is kewl when yah have been exploring new routes :)

Download this file and open it with google earth if you have it and then select view>>play tour and you will see what I mean. Unfortunately the area I have cycled isnt covered by high res maps so its not a very good example, so I have linked a second file that shows a route that does have decent coverage from someone else.

My Route File (http://www.everitt.nildram.co.uk/images/MotionBasedExport.kml)

A better res route file from another user (http://www.everitt.nildram.co.uk/images/MotionBasedExport2.kml) - Route = London Marathon :)

Heres my latest one from last night matey, bit slower cos I wanted to do more distance and also cos I very stupidly wore my coat as I thougt it was gonna pee it down ... which it never did and I was way too hot all the way round ! Few pauses in there cos I stpped to take a few pics and also for traffic lights junctions etc.

Was a great night for a ride last night, saw quite a few other people out cycling or running.

And a random pic of a windmill I took with me camera phone.

First time i've been out on it this week, been far too busy. :sigh:

That Motionbase is a good tool, still finding my way around it but its very useful! dunno how you integrate with google earth yet but i'm sure i'll figure it out. :)

Tis easy m8, you just download the Google file from the summary data screen (or one of those I have uploaded above) and then open it in google earth to view the route .... then if you wanna see the route as a virtual fly by just select view then play tour in google earth.

I did ok with my training last week, knees are still a bit sore after the marathon but hopefully I will manage a few steady runs as well as the cycling this week.... had a very steady cycle last night due to suffering witrh a hangover from sat night :)

Goal for this week is to substitute at least 2 cycles for runs and to break the 17mph average for at least one cycle ride ...... cos I just cant get past that atm !

How you finding wearing the heart rate monitor?

I'm very tempted to get a 301 to get a better idea of how my runs are going, even though I only do short runs each day, I'd like to be able to monitor any changes over time to see what effect they're having.

At the moment, I don't really know if I'm pushing myself too much or too little, did the last run feel easy because I'm fitter or because I just went easy on myself etc.

It never bothers me m8ty but ive worn one for a couple of years now as before I got my 305 I used to run quite often with a polar heart rate monitor and always wore it at the gym (in fact still do but just dont get to the gym much these days). Wet the sensors a bit before yah set off, make sure you have it tight enough to not slip but not too tight to restrict yah chest and after a while you wont even notice your wearing it tbh.

Using my 305 really shows up whats going on during runs and cycle rides. I can go out and feel like I have really been much better than I was the day before, I feel faster and it feels easier generally ... then I get home upload my data and find I have averaged .5 mph slower than the day before ... its a real reality check. Same for the distances that you run, unless your on a track or run some of measured route you probably dont have an accurate idea of how far your running cos measuring routes in the car is very inaccurate.

When I was working out at the gym a lot I used to look at my heart rate a lot before I worked out and after and I could tell when I was coming down with a cold before the symptoms hits cos my resting heart rate would be higher as my body was fighting the infection off.

Good measure of how your fitness is improving is your resting heart rate .. you will notice this change quite a bit as your fitness improves.

Can't view the TC screenshot, probably cus my domain runs out on monday. Anyway, thats the google earth file.. You will probably recognise most of it with you being a castleford lad :)
