Okay, so I have started my diet before Xmas :/
me guts getting huge so have no choice.
I'm on a strictish diet, with plenty of fruit, veg and water :(

My question , and I can't find it through google or anyone I know, is this :
Can I eat too much fruit and veg?
Am eating fruit and veg as part of my main meals and am also snacking on them (apples, celery, peppers, satsumas, pears, etc)
and my missus reckons I'll keep the weight on coz I'm still eating loads.

????

TIA

There can be a lot of carbs in fruit/veg, depends which way you wanna look at it I guess..

For example - http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-C00001-01c20mo.html would show that you would get 1g of carbs from a 15g serving of Carrots. That is not very much at all... With most vegetables it's not too bad, but obviously you're not gonna wanna go eat a vegetable patch a day... Potatos have a bad rep but you're not gonna go around eating potatoes as a snack (part from the obvious no nos). Spinach, sprouts, greens etc. are all good to have with dinner. You can take a good 100g of this stuff down and still onlly be left with around 10% carbs, which is nice. Fills you up, but is also difficult to cook (if you can be assed) and fit all of it on your plate ;)

Fruit in general is a bit different, the natural sugar found in them can effect fat loss, tropical fruits are particularly bad (but hey, better than a burger of a pack of crisps..), green apples are quite good though. The average green apple (granny smith say) has around 17-20g of carbs, so this is a lot higher than spinach, greens, carrots etc, but nicer to snack on. Bananas are similar, although they are a quick releasing carb, nothing wrong with that but be careful in eating a lot in one sitting.

Again, it depends on the diet you are on and what you are looking to do. A good snacking choice would be a couple of apples a day, also a few carrots if you fancy it... :P

Basically, better than a burger and chips and a packet of crips etc. to snack on, but too much will hinder progress.
