Are you using XP and/or a montitor refresh rates locking program Henry ?. If so the reason you are being booted back to desktop is because Battlefield is trying to set your rates to 60hz and the refresh rate proggy is not allowing it to. Installing new drivers will fix this, but only because it defaults all refresh rates back to 60hz which is not ideal.
To get Battlefield working with rates higher than 60hz you need to download and install the latest patch. This will add a line to your videodefault.con file (renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0).
You then need to go to your Battlefield folder, open the settings folder and then open the videodefault.con file with wordpad. Change the 0 to a 1 and Battlefield will now run with your specified rates.
Hope this helps m8.
