At work we have a utility that reads the whole HD including deleted files.

Files will only be completely deleted if you format.

Ill ask me m8.

Switch this is tricky

Now I'm pretty sure it is possible, because as you might know the files u delete do not actually delete themselfs. They get stored DEEP in MS then they rename it some gargled number and arGh its just to horrible to describe.

Solutions.

Search the Web always a good place to start.

OR

(i do not endorse downloading software which is copyrighted) You could get hold of a copy of Adobe Go Back.

that little tool takes and image of ya drive every 12 hours and you can select by clicking on icon whether u wanna go back 12,24,36 and etc etc hours.

VERY handy util on win 98

Hey bro, ICQ me 74988665, or look for a program from Mcafee called Easy Recovery Pro.

What Windows does when it deletes something is change the last character to an "Unrecognizeable" one, so in essence, as long as you haven't written over the sector the old data was located on, you can recover it.

In fact, what the guy up top said about formating is incorrect too. Even if you format, you can still recover all your old data that isn't written over by new data. Formatting just changes ALL the data to unrecognizeable characters. Easy Recovery is super well...easy to use, i have it if you need it.

Depends whether you quick format or full format.

Quck format just zeros the first 2 sectors.
